The VBCS Triple60/40/800 HV CI is the compact solution for motorhomes and expedition vehicles . Only one charging unit instead of three different chargers. The device combines a charging booster for optimum charging of the batteries while travelling, a mains charger for charging the batteries via the 230V mains and an MPPT controller for charging via solar power. The compact device helps to save valuable space in the motorhome. Purchase, installation and connection wiring are reduced to a minimum, saving valuable resources.

Microprocessor-controlled charging of the body batteries with IU1oU2oU3 charging characteristic. 9 stored charging programmes for lead-acid, gel and AGM batteries as well as the latest lithium LiFePO4 batteries guarantee a monitoring-free, fast and gentle full charge from any state of charge with subsequent full maintenance and care of the battery in addition to supplying connected 12V consumers during the entire charging process. Mains operation with the VBCS 60/40/800 Triple HV CI

In standby mode at the external socket, the combi charger impresses with a reliable and powerful power supply directly from the mains. Thanks to the universal wide range of 110V AC to 230V AC, the full charging power is available worldwide - without any manual switching and even in the event of major deviations in the mains supply such as undervoltage or overvoltage, deviating sine wave or fluctuating frequency.

The on-board battery is charged efficiently via the mains connection and the 12V consumers in the vehicle are reliably supplied. A switchable auxiliary charging branch with 13.2 V or 12 V at 4-5 A also ensures that the vehicle starter battery is maintained and charged - ideal for longer periods of downtime so that the starter battery always remains ready for use.

Thanks to intelligent long-term charging characteristics, the device can remain permanently connected to the mains without damaging the battery. Whether during a longer break in use or during the winter break - the device reliably keeps the batteries in an optimum state of charge, fully automatically and without further intervention.


Charge converter, "B2B" operation with the VBCS 60/40/800 Triple HV CI

The powerful charging converter (booster) enables the on-board battery to be fully charged while travelling.

The booster precisely adjusts the voltage to the required level in order to supply the on-board battery with the optimum charging characteristic - regardless of whether the voltage applied needs to be increased or decreased. Voltage fluctuations and line losses, which occur particularly in modern Euro 6 vehicles with their constantly changing alternator voltage, are fully compensated for.

The connected 12V consumers also benefit: they are actively protected against overvoltage and voltage fluctuations and always receive a stable supply. When used in a caravan, the input current can also be adjusted in two stages to avoid overloading the trailer connector on the towing vehicle and to ensure safe operation.


Solar operation, "MPPT" with the VBCS 60/40/800 Triple HV CI:

Thanks to the integrated MPPT technology(MaximumPowerPoint Tracking), the controller determines the optimum operating point of the solar modules fully automatically and several times per second in order to always achieve the maximum power yield. The resulting increase in charging current of 10% to 30% ensures noticeably shorter charging times and the best possible utilisation of the available solar energy - at any time of year and under changing light conditions.

An auxiliary charging branch that can be switched on also enables the vehicle starter battery to be charged and maintained, which ensures that the starter battery always remains reliably ready for use, especially when the vehicle is parked for long periods.

In addition, the controller has a dedicated AES switching output, which automatically switches compatible refrigerators with AES function (Automatic Energy Selector from Electrolux or Dometic) from gas to energy-efficient 12V operation when there is sufficient solar power surplus - fully automatically and without manual intervention.


Further device features of the VBCS Triple HV CI:

  • The charging voltage is free of peaks and regulated in such a way that overcharging of the batteries is ruled out.
  • Fully automatic continuous operation: The charger can be permanently connected to the batteries and keeps them fully charged. If no charging source is available (power failure, engine stop, night) , the batteries are not discharged.
  • Parallel and buffer operation: The battery continues to be charged or is kept fully charged if there is simultaneous consumption. The charger automatically calculates and monitors the adjustment of the charging times.
  • Monitoring-free charging: Multiple protection against overload, overheating, overvoltage, short circuit, misbehaviour and battery back-discharge through electronic cut-off up to complete disconnection of charger and battery.
  • Power supply function: Enables consumers to be supplied without a battery (e.g. when changing the battery).
  • Built-in on-board mains filter: Problem-free parallel operation with other charging sources (wind, motor and fuel generators) on one battery.
  • Charging cable compensation: Voltage losses on the charging cables are automatically compensated for.
  • Connection for battery temperature sensor (included): In the case of lead batteries (acid, gel, AGM), the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the battery temperature, resulting in a better full charge of the weaker battery in cold weather and avoiding unnecessary battery gassing in summer temperatures.
    LiFePO4 batteries: Battery protection at high and especially at low temperatures < 0°C. Highly recommended if the battery temperature can fall below 0°C during operation.
  • Automaticlead battery regeneration twice a week during downtimes to prevent harmful acid stratification.
  • Charging aid for deeply discharged lead batteries: Gentle pre-charging of the (lead-acid, -gel, -AGM) battery up to 8V, then powerful support for the battery if consumers are still switched on.

Options for the VBCS Triple HV CI

Remote control and display LCD Charge Control S or LCD control board like the multi-panel system 12V
If the device is installed in a location that is difficult to access, the control and operating element for all operating modes enables convenient remote monitoring and operation.
Function: It displays the status of the individual charging sources, the current charging phase, the voltage of the on-board and starter battery and the current charging current.
In solar mode, the displays for the current solar power (W) and the energy counters (Wh and Ah, can be reset to zero at any time) are also available for your own statistical purposes.
The AC Power Limit and AC Power Off functions can also be conveniently operated remotely at the touch of a button.

Changeover relay for EBL (Schaudt)
When used in conjunction with an electric block (e.g. Schaudt), the installation of this changeover relay is mandatory. It prevents the charging current from flowing back from the VBCS Triple via the second battery into the starter battery. As soon as the engine is running and a D+ signal is present, it disconnects the connection between the starter battery and the electric block. If the D+ signal disappears when the engine is switched off, the connection is automatically re-established.

ByPass / cut-off relay 200A
ByPass relay that can also be used if there is a possibility that a very heavy consumer may consume more current from the on-board battery than the charging booster can supply, e.g. operation of a living area air conditioning system while driving with a powerful inverter. A special switching output on the VBCS Triple activates the ByPass relay if the power consumption is too high, thereby bypassing the integrated charge booster. When the consumer current drops, the relay is switched off and the charging converter takes over the controlled full charging of the on-board battery again.

Bluetooth Connector S-BC
Connecting the Bluetooth Connector S-BC is very simple: it is simply connected to the "Display" port of the VBCS Triple HV CI using the modular cable supplied with the connector. In this way, all the information from the solar system can be conveniently read via the APP, which is available free of charge, on a mobile phone or tablet. In addition, the most important data is logged, graphically processed and stored for a longer period of time. It is even possible to output the data as a CSV file for your own analysis purposes. Of course, the Bluetooth Connector S-BC can also be retrofitted at any time.
