The Cerbo GX, MK3 version is the more powerful counterpart of the Cerbo GX MK2. It is equipped with a new chipset, new memory and a 64-bit architecture. The Cerbo GX MK3 can form the powerful heart of your Victron energy system. All important system components – such as inverter/chargers, solar charge controllers and batteries – are connected to it and brought together centrally. As a communication centre, it ensures that the connected components work together optimally and that relevant system information is available in one place. At the same time, you can keep an eye on your energy system at all times and conveniently monitor and control it – even when you are not on site.
The system can be monitored either using an optional GX Touch display, such as the GX Touch 50 flush – or from anywhere in the world via an internet connection and the VRM Portal. Thanks to its Bluetooth capability, the Cerbo GX MK3 can also be accessed via the VictronConnect app.
The Cerbo GX MK3 runs the Venus OS operating system. Thanks to its higher processing power, Venus OS Large can also be installed as an alternative, providing additional functions such as Node-RED and the Signal K Server.

Cerbo GX, Cerbo GX MK2 and Cerbo GX MK3 - What are the differences?
The Cerbo GX MK2 is largely based on the original Cerbo GX and uses the same housing and very similar electronics. The Cerbo GX MK3 has the same features and connection options as the MK2, but offers significantly higher processing power. The differences listed below therefore refer to the original Cerbo GX compared with the two newer generations, MK2 and MK3.
- The Cerbo GX MK2/MK3 has two fully functional CAN bus ports, called VE.Can 1 and VE.Can 2, instead of one VE.Can and one BMS-Can port. The VE.Can 1 port is isolated. Earlier models did not have an isolated CAN bus port. We will look at the isolated interface in more detail later in this description.
- The RJ-45 sockets have been rotated by 180 degrees, making it easier to unplug the cables.
- Three fully functional USB ports instead of two fully functional USB ports and one USB port used only to supply power to the GX Touch control panel.
- The digital inputs support pulse counting.

Instantly monitor the battery's state of charge, power consumption, energy generated from PV, generators and the grid, or check tank levels and temperature readings. Easily control the shore power input current limit, the (automatic) start/stop of your generator or change settings to optimise the system. Easy installation and configuration
The Cerbo GX MK3 is optimised to more than meet the requirements of installers. The device can optionally be mounted on a DIN rail (using the DIN35 adapter small, not included). The optionally available touchscreens can be screwed onto a dashboard or installed flush with the surface and are connected using just one cable, eliminating the need to route numerous cables to the dashboard. Its Bluetooth function enables quick connection and configuration via the VictronConnect app.
Master every energy challenge
The Cerbo GX MK3 serves countless purposes and extends complete control to a wide variety of applications. For systems with generators, such as marine applications or backup & off-grid installations, it automatically starts/stops your generator or delays ignition until the end of quiet hours. In energy storage systems, it keeps backup batteries at 100%, switches on in the event of a power failure and redirects excess (solar) power for self-consumption, helping you save money. In motorhomes and emergency vehicles, it keeps essential systems operating reliably. And these are just a few examples...
Always up to date
The Cerbo GX MK3 also supports remote firmware updates and even allows settings to be changed remotely.

Venus OS Large with Node-RED and Signal K Server
In addition to the standard Venus OS firmware, Venus OS Large can also be installed on the GX device. This extended version adds Node-RED and the Signal K Server to the system.
Node-RED
With Node-RED, you can customise and automate your Victron system. For example, you can create your own dashboards, clearly display measured values, set up notifications or automatically execute specific processes. The dashboard can be accessed both locally via the network and remotely through the VRM Portal.
Signal K Server
The Signal K Server is primarily intended for marine applications. It can combine data from various sources such as NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000 and Signal K. Data from the GX device and connected Victron components can also be made available to external applications for further processing or display.
You can switch to Venus OS Large directly via the GX device settings under Settings → Firmware → Online updates → Image type → Large.
Note: The additional functions of Venus OS Large are not officially supported by Victron Energy. Use is at your own risk.
Isolated and non-isolated CAN bus interfaces
1. Isolated CAN bus interface:
Electrical isolation: Isolated interfaces provide galvanic isolation between the CAN bus and the connected devices. This means that there is no direct electrical connection between the two sides.
Protection against interference: Isolation protects against interference, overvoltage and ground loops that can arise from different ground potentials. This is particularly important in industrial applications or environments with high levels of electromagnetic interference.
Applications: Isolated interfaces are often used in safety-critical applications where high reliability and protection against electrical interference are required.
2. Non-isolated CAN bus interface:
No electrical isolation: Non-isolated interfaces do not provide galvanic isolation. The devices are directly connected, meaning that interference or overvoltage can be transmitted from one device to another.
Cost-effectiveness: Non-isolated interfaces are generally more economical and easier to implement because they require fewer components.
Applications: This type of interface is frequently used in less critical applications where environmental conditions are stable and there are no high requirements for electrical isolation.
Conclusion
The choice between an isolated and a non-isolated CAN bus interface depends on the specific requirements of your application. In environments where interference or different ground potentials may occur, an isolated interface is advisable. In stable environments with lower requirements, a non-isolated interface may be sufficient.
