Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100-450/100 - Hybrid inverter

2 AC outputs | Dual MPPT tracker | Charger | Battery monitor | Display | VE.Direct, VE.Can & Bluetooth

In mid-2023, the Multi RS was further developed from a single MPPT tracker to a dual MPPT tracker model. The Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100 combines a 48V 6kVA inverter, a charger with a maximum charging current of 100A, two independent 3kWp PV 450V MPPT tracker inputs for a total of 6kWp PV and a 50A mains priority switch in one housing. The combined housing saves space, reduces cabling and enables the components to work together optimally for maximum efficiency. It is designed for operation with a 48V battery bank, generates a pure sine wave at 230V and is capable of supplying consumers with high power. The MPPT operating voltage range is between 65 and 450V. Thanks to high-frequency technology and a new design, this powerful inverter weighs just 12.3kg. It also has excellent efficiency, low standby power and very quiet operation.

The Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100 allows you to utilise your generated electricity directly, feed it into the grid and store it in a 48V battery system, enabling you to make optimum use of your solar yield. Optimum utilisation is completed by access to the data and control of your Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100 via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app with a smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device. You can control and configure your Multi RS Solar remotely via the VRM portal. You can check the status of your connected products, view detailed energy history graphs, create detailed analysis reports and even configure automatic alarms if something goes wrong.

High performance of the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100

Outstanding efficiency as an inverter/charger
Maximum efficiency of 96 %. The inverter is short-circuit proof and protected against overheating (whether caused by overload or ambient temperature).

Ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT)
Especially in overcast conditions, when light intensity is constantly changing, a fast MPPT algorithm improves energy yield by up to 30 % compared to P WM charge controllers and by up to 10 % compared to slower MPPT controllers.

Advanced maximum power point detection for partial shading
In the event of partial shading, there may be two or more maximum power points (MPP) on the current-voltage curve. Conventional MPPTs tend to adjust to a local MPP. However, this may not be the optimum MPP. The innovative algorithm of the SmartSolar device will always maximise the energy yield by adjusting to the optimum MPP.

What applications can the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100 be used for?

The Multi RS Solar combines an inverter, charger, mains priority circuit and two MPPT solar controllers in one compact device. It intelligently manages all three energy flows: prioritising direct consumption, storing surplus energy in the battery and feeding it into the grid, allowing you maximum flexibility and efficiency in your 48V system.

The following application examples demonstrate the flexibility and efficiency of the Multi RS Solar.

Home with solar system - maximum independence

  • Optimise self-consumption: The solar power generated during the day flows primarily directly into the household and supplies your consumers - from household appliances and lighting to entertainment electronics, computers or chargers. This allows you to optimise the use of your self-generated energy and thus reduce your electricity consumption from the grid.
  • Store energy: Surplus solar power that is not consumed immediately automatically charges the 48V battery bank for later use. This means you can use your self-generated energy even after sunset or in bad weather.
  • Grid feed-in: Once your batteries are fully charged and your household is supplied, no generated energy is lost: the surplus solar energy is fed into the public grid and you receive the corresponding remuneration.

Commercial applications - high flexibility

  • Agricultural businesses: The solar power generated is used directly for energy-intensive operating processes such as milking systems, cooling systems or automatic feeders. Surplus energy is stored in the battery bank and is available for peak loads - for example during morning milking or evening cleaning work. Only when both the current demand is covered and the batteries are fully charged is the remaining energy fed into the public grid and remunerated.
  • Workshops: In workshops with energy-intensive machines, solar power covers the high daily demand - saws, milling machines, welding equipment and compressors run on self-generated energy. Surpluses are stored in the battery bank and supply the office, lighting and smaller consumers in the evening hours. At weekends, when the machines are idle but the solar system continues to produce, the surplus is fed into the public grid and remunerated.

Emergency power function - round-the-clock security: In the event of a power failure, the system automatically switches to battery and solar operation without interruption within milliseconds - for an absolutely seamless power supply without any signs of failure.

Private households: Here, critical loads such as fridges and freezers, heating pumps, WLAN routers, alarm systems or medical devices (oxygen concentrators, ventilators) remain reliably in operation. This gives you real security of supply - particularly important for families with small children, older people or those with health restrictions.

Commercial enterprises: The emergency power function means that all business-critical systems continue to run without interruption: cold chains are maintained, servers and IT infrastructure work without interruption, production facilities do not have to be shut down, telecommunications and cash register systems remain functional. This protects against costly production downtime, prevents the loss of perishable goods and preserves your business data.

What 5 operating modes does the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100 have?

  • Hybrid mode: Stores surplus solar energy in a battery for use at night or during periods of high demand. Supplies additional power from the battery when demand exceeds the grid capacity.
  • Reserve mode: Switches to reserve mode during a grid failure.
  • Mains-independent mode: Works without a mains connection.
  • Generator mode: Controls the generator to minimise runtime. Supplies additional power from the battery if the demand exceeds the capacity of the generator.
  • PV inverter mode: Works like a PV inverter without a battery.

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS function)

In the event of a mains failure or if the shore power or on-board generator is interrupted, the Multi's inverter is automatically switched on and takes over the supply to the connected loads. The switchover happens so quickly (in less than 20 milliseconds) that uninterrupted operation of computers and other electronic devices is guaranteed.

Two AC outputs on the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100

The main output ensures uninterrupted operation thanks to the UPS function. In the event of a mains failure or an interruption in the shore/generator power, the MultiPlus-II takes over the supply to the consumers connected to it, making the MultiPlus-II 48/6k5/100-50 230V ideal for emergency power supply in industrial applications or in telecommunications.

The second output only supplies power when alternating current is available at the input of the MultiPlus-II. Consumers that must not discharge the battery, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output.

PowerControl on the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100

The inverter/charger is able to provide a very high charging current. This places a heavy load on the AC power supply or the generator. For this reason, a maximum current can be set. The inverter/charger then takes into account the consumption already present and only uses the "excess" current to charge the battery.

PowerAssist on the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100

This function adds a new dimension to the PowerControl principle, as the inverter/charger can support an alternative source that is too weak. Load peaks often only occur for a limited period of time. In such a case, the inverter/charger ensures that insufficient grid or generator power is immediately compensated for by energy from the battery. If the load is reduced, i.e. consumers are switched off, the sufficient energy available can then be used to charge the batteries again.

MPPT on the Multi RS Solar 48/6000/100

The batteries can be charged with solar energy using the built-in MPPT solar controller, an AC power supply connected to the AC input or a PV grid inverter connected to the AC output. The built-in MPPT has a power limitation of 6000W total - 3000W per tracker. If an additional PV grid inverter is connected (max. 5000W), the maximum total charging current is limited to 100A. The maximum charging current of 100A is reduced when the battery voltage rises above 60V. You can also set your own maximum charging current value in VictronConnect. When using a PV grid inverter, the battery is only charged to around 95%

The charging algorithm is the same as for the BlueSolar MPPT solar controllers. This provides integrated battery preset parameters and enables expert mode to define additional charging parameters.

Display, Bluetooth and VictronConnect app

With its integrated 4-line display, the Multi RS Solar 48/600/100 shows all important parameters directly on the device, allowing you to keep an eye on battery voltage, inverter output and solar yield at all times.

It is even more convenient with the integrated Bluetooth Smart and the VictronConnect app - your wireless solution for setting up, monitoring and updating the device. All values shown on the display can also be called up wirelessly on your smartphone or other Bluetooth-enabled device. Simply use your smartphone, tablet or other compatible device with an Apple or Android operating system.

Remote configuration and monitoring

In conjunction with a GX device (e.g. the Cerbo GX MK2 or the Ekrano GX), you can use the free VRM app and the free Victron VRM portal website to monitor and control your Multi and the system or systems locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world. Access can be via a phone, tablet, laptop or PC with a wide range of operating systems.
