The GX IO-Extender 150 is a USB-connected extension module that expands the available IO ports (inputs/outputs) of GX devices such as the Ekrano GX and Cerbo GX MK2, enabling the seamless integration of additional sensors, controllers and external devices. This gives you endless possibilities for monitoring, control and automation. It is a simple and efficient expansion solution that utilises the USB port as a power source. If you want to increase the number of connections, you can add several GX IO-Extender 150s.
The plug-and-play USB connection makes installation effortless. The GX IO-Extender 150 is simply plugged into an available USB port on the GX device and the inputs/outputs, PWMs and relays are immediately available to the system. Whether you are managing a complex off-grid solar installation, a marine electrical system or an industrial backup power solution, the GX IO-Extender 150 expands your ability to meet specific requirements.
The GX IO-Extender is not intended for general switching of loads, but rather for signalling. The relays and the fixed switch have low rated currents that vary depending on the voltage used.
The device can be controlled both via Node-RED (integrated in Venus OS Large) on the GX device and via the "Switch" area of the user interface. The GX IO-Extender 150 is compatible with all GX devices. For optimum utilisation, however, we recommend combining it with Node-RED, although it should be noted that not all GX devices support Node-RED.

Technical note: The digital outputs can supply a maximum of 4mA. At 4mA, the voltage drops below the internal series resistor (560Ω) to 2.24V, leaving only 2.76V at 4mA for the output signal. Therefore, a driver such as a transistor or FET is required to switch a relay with a digital output.
System integration of the GX IO-Extender 150
It fits seamlessly into existing Victron Energy systems and extends their functionality by integrating various sensors and external devices. As a USB-based extension, it works directly with the GX device and enables centralised control and monitoring of all connected components via the familiar VRM portal or the local user interface. Thanks to its versatile inputs and outputs, a wide variety of components can be connected and centrally controlled via the GX device. The flexible configuration of the digital I/Os, PWM outputs and relays enables customisation to a wide range of requirements.
Each connection has its own LED display that shows the current status and, for the PWM channel, the intensity.
