The 12V/140-200A high-power cut-off relay (2203) is the successor to the 12V/200A high-power cut-off relay (2201). The copper content of the high-current conductor has been increased and silver tin oxide (AgSnO2) is used as the contact material.
It is designed for use in cars, motorhomes, caravans or boats and can also be used if there is a possibility that a very powerful consumer may draw more current from the on-board battery than the charging converter of the VBCS Triple can supply, e.g. operation of a living room air conditioning system while travelling with a powerful inverter.
A special switching output on the VBCS Triple charging combination activates the ByPass relay if the power consumption is too high, thereby bypassing the integrated charging booster of the VBCS Triple. As a result, the starter battery is connected directly in parallel with the body battery and the alternator can supply the large consumer (inverter for air conditioning) directly. When the consumer current drops, the relay is switched off and the charge booster takes over the controlled full charging of the on-board battery again.
